Pokerstars $1.5 Million Sunday Anniversary Final Table
March 11, 2007
by Gary Campbell (winatpokernow.com)
The largest Sunday Million in Pokerstars history happened
on Sunday March 11, 2007. Play started with 10,508 players,
all with dreams of the $217,000.00 top prize.
Final table started with 9 players - EZcash1, francky2011,
gambforlife, nickym998, Othimua, pbdrunks, wsu79, xxallthenutz
and Zeddor. pbdrunks was the first to go picking up
$12189.28. wsu79 was the next player eliminated cashing
in at $17863.60. EZcash1 left the tournament in 7th
place picking up $25,219.20. xxallthenutz picked up
AA in his final hand, and went all in against Zeddor
with AK. The flop was 6d Kh Kd, the turn was Jd which
gave xxallthenutz the flush draw, but the river was
6s which gave Zeddor the full house to eliminate xxallthenutz.
He picked up $36,778.00 for 6th place.
With 5 players left at the table, everyone decided
to look at a deal. When the manager told the players
what the numbers would be, everyone was in agreement
except nickym998. He wanted to take the fight to the
end. There were some modifications to the deal, in which
3 players gave up $4,000.00 of their winnings to appease
nickym998. All players agreed at this point, and here
are the figures.
nickym998 - $160,949.52
gambforlife - $119,209.08
francky2011 - $102,177.33
Othimua - $103,142.40
Zeddor - $101,971.74
And the rest - $30,000.00 to be awarded to the winner.
Play resumed after a short break, and things got heated
up. Within 2 hands, one of the players was taken out
of the tournament. Zeddor caught KK on the button with
1 raise in front of him. Zeddor pushed all in, and was
called by francky2011 with As Js. francky2011 had Zeddor
covered, but there was no ace to be found. The flop
came down Qs 8c 5c, then the turn of Qh made it almost
impossible for francky to win. The river 10d was the
clincher, and francky2011 did not have enough chips
left to cover the big blind. The next hand was francky2011
with A-7 os, and nickym998 with A-10 os. A 10 hit the
flop, and another on the turn and the 5th place was
awarded to francky2011.
Play tightened right up after this, and there was alot
of pre-flop folding.
Quite a few hands later, after Zeddor took a huge chip
lead, Othimau picks up AK in the small blind. Play is
folded around to Othimau, who makes it 3,000,000 to
go. Zeddor, in the big blind decides to call. The flop
comes down 9c 9h 5d, and Othimau is first to act. He
bets out 4,000,000 chips to try to shake up Zeddor,
but Zeddor calls it. The turn looks to be a blank, (7d)
so Othimau tries to make it too expensive to call (unless
you had a 9 in your hand) by going all in with 9,423,516
chips. Zeddor quickly calls, and shows 9-4 suited. Not
one card in the deck could hit the river to win Othimau
the hand, so he is eliminated.
Down to 3 players, the action starts. Zeddor with a
huge chiplead with over 74 Million in chips, gambforlife
at just over 19 Million, and nickym998 bringing up the
rear with only about 10 Million in chips. After a bit
of raising and a lot of folding, gambforlife picked
up A-Q in the small blind and puts in some chips. The
blinds are at 500,000/1,000,000, so he makes it 4,000,000
to go. Zeddor is in the big blind, and decides his hand
is good enough to call the 3M raise. The flop is Js
As Jd, and gambforlife is 1st to act. He checks that
flop, and Zeddor puts on some pressure. Zeddor bets
out 2M, and gambforlife raises it up to 4M. Zeddor calls.
The turn is Kh, and gambforlife bets out 6M this time.
Zeddor calls, and we see the river. The river is 5s,
which makes for a possible flush, so gambforlife checks.
Zeddor bets all in, and gambforlife makes a quick call.
Zeddor shows 8s 3s, an ace high flush, and we are now
heads up.
Heads up starts out with nickym998 at
17273868 in chips, and
Zeddor with 87806132 in chips, and Zeddor immediately
starts out trying to put nickym998 all in. Only 3 hands
into heads up action, nickym998 picks up A-3 and decides
to make a big play.
Here is the final hand.
